The Crimea Map is full of curiosities, both cartographic and historical. In class, we marked it up with questions. Your job now is to select one of the unanswered questions, conduct research, and compose an answer. Your answer should be about 300 words.
Nuts & Bolts
- To claim a question, open the annotation. At the bottom, type CLAIMED BY [your name]. Save.
- Start by looking for scholarly sources (HOLLIS is your friend). If you cannot find relevant material, write a brief note explaining your search techniques, and move to the web search strategy of your choice.
- Use proper citations (footnotes) as you compose your answer.
- Go to the Puzzlements section of our site. Scroll to the bottom and click "add page".
- Fill in the first 3 fields. Your page title should be no more than 5 or 6 words.
- Scroll down to Contents and add a text block (we will go over this in class).
- In the text block, paste the question and your answer. Save your work.
Good to Know
- You might not be able to generate a satisfactory answer. That is fine. In that case, describe your attempt, and any further questions prompted by your work.
- Aim to spend on hour on this assignment. It is not meant to take over your life.
