Similar to Abigail's comment, the significance of this town is hidden from view on this map. Karasubazar appears in the Holderness text as well, described as "the first Tatar town, and is much more singular than pleasing: narrow and irrecular streets, presenting a most extraordinary number of ships... Every article of sale brought into the Crimea, is to be had cheaper here than elsewhere." Neither the variety of ethnicities, the multitude of enterprises, nor the "irregular streets" are much in evidence on this map.
