Mary Holderness describes a monastery on the road  "leading from Staria Crim to Sudac (...) three thousand desaiteens attached to it"(Holderness, 196). The author uses the adjectives "romantic" and "beautiful" to describe the scenery, using the Russian unity to describe the size of the monastery's estate. (A curiosity: one Russian desaiteen ≈ 2.6 English acres ≈ 4,047 square meters (0.4047 hectares).
