Holderness describes how the town of "Bachtcherserai," which is found on the map, contained 31 mosques in 1803 (Holderness, 196). However, when poring over that area, I could not discern where those mosques would be located. It appears as though this map is missing symbols to depict mosques and thus does not fully capture the religious diversity of the Crimean peninsula.
