Until the early 19th century, there was limited information available about the realities of traveling across the Black Sea. For sailors, it was an unpredictable body of water that posed many dangers. There were frequent storms and strong winds, which damaged ships and delayed voyages (O'Neill, 229). While this map features detailed topographical depictions of land and displays features such as roads, orchards, and post stations, the creator didn't add any detail whatsoever to the Black or Azov Seas. It would be interesting to try to locate the hazardous areas and features of the Black Sea.
